Job Description

We are seeking a proactive Finance Manager with 5+ years of experience to own and lead the finance function in our growing start-up. Reporting to the Head of Operations, this role requires someone who can work independently while providing regular updates to stakeholders. You’ll manage ERP systems, accounting tools, and bookkeeping processes to drive efficiency, accuracy, and compliance. This is a great fit for someone who enjoys building processes from scratch and supporting operational decisions with clear financial insights.

Job Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage end-to-end financial operations, including accounts payable/receivable, general ledger, and payroll.
  • Prepare, analyse, and present financial reports that support business operations and decision-making, including C-Suite reports for investors.
  • Manage budgeting, forecasting, and long-term financial planning processes.
  • Implement and optimize ERP systems, accounting software, and bookkeeping tools to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
  • Monitor key financial metrics, identify discrepancies, and implement corrective actions.
  • Ensure compliance with internal controls, financial policies, and external regulatory requirements, including analysis and resource allocation for public Grants.
  • Liaise with external auditors and support audit processes.

Required Experience

  • Minimum of 5 years of professional experience in finance operations or financial management in start-up environments during Seed/Series A/B phase.
  • Proven track record in handling full-cycle financial processes and owning core financial responsibilities.
  • Strong working knowledge of ERP systems, accounting tools, and reporting platforms.
  • Experience in budgeting, forecasting, financial analysis, and compliance oversight.
  • Ability to work autonomously while keeping stakeholders informed on progress and key updates.
  • Familiarity with audit preparation, internal controls, and financial regulations.

What We’re Looking For

  • University degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field.
  • Familiarity with compliance frameworks such as IFRS, GAAP, or SOX.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including modelling, pivot tables, and formulas.
  • Experience using Jira, ERP systems, and Microsoft collaboration tools.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.
  • Detail-oriented, highly organized, and able to meet tight deadlines.
  • Hybrid role: 3 days in-office (Berlin) / 2 days remote
  • Availability to start as soon as possible is preferred

Good to Have

  • Experience in high-growth or operations-driven environments.
  • Familiarity with compliance frameworks such as IFRS, GAAP, or SOX.
  • Exposure to financial reporting, audit, or risk management functions.
  • Proficiency in additional European languages.
